18 March 2013

Benjamin's Blog Awards 2013

All categories are judged between 18 March 2012 and 18 March 2013.

Worst UK F1 commentator.

The nominations are as follows:

Jonathan Legard (BBC Red Button, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra) for his shambolic Radio 5 commentary and failing to tell the difference between yellow and white.

Ben Edwards (BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Three, BBC Red Button, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra) for getting Paul di Resta confused with Sutil even though the camera had been following di Resta on a lap (with the caption), shouting unnecessarily about Hamilton's stopping in Australia qualifying 2013, and for this, Europe 2012:

James Allen (BBC Red Button, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra) for getting "excited" over Max Chilton, getting Raikkonen and Sutil's battle in Australia 2013 confused with Grosjean and di Resta, even though those two were 30 seconds down on each other, predicting that Brazil 2012 would have to be run on Monday, and for getting over-excited about the fact that everyone's lap time gave them fourth in Australia qualifying 2013.

And the award goes to...

JONATHAN LEGARD.

Best UK F1 commentator.

The nominations are:

David Croft (Sky Sports F1) for his humorous references to "Leeroy Jenkins" overtakes, such as here:

Martin Brundle (Sky Sports F1) for his brilliant gridwalks, and when one of them goes spectacularly wrong!

Jaime Alguersuari (BBC Red Button, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra) for trying to form chemistry with James Allen and keeping him in check... but then he disappeared halfway through 2012.

And the award goes to...

MARTIN BRUNDLE.
