The Curious Case of Heathrow Terminal 1

So, on my way home today, I walked past the London Rail connections map, realising that I needed a pocket version for a Tube Challenge social gathering on Saturday. I did a double take, picked up some tube maps anyway (because Harrow-on-the-Hill had run out of Rail ones) and then on the poster, I saw this...

Heathrow Terminal 1 appeared to be missing, as the station has always been called "Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3". I promptly checked the pocket maps which also had Heathrow Terminal 1 missing.

I had been travelling on the Piccadilly Line less than a week ago, and the trains up and down the line, alongside the stations, still referred to "Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3", so I was a bit concerned about this.

I decided to tweet that photograph, tagging in the official TFL Piccadilly Line account. I also put it on the Tube Challenge forums.

It transpires that that is how Heathrow will be in the medium term, as I was told that thanks to the expansion of Terminal 2, Heathrow Terminals 1 and 3 will be closed altogether. Rather confusingly, in five years' time, we'll have Heathrow Terminal 2, Heathrow Terminal 4, and Heathrow Terminal 5.

The Piccadilly Line sent me the following reply a few hours later...

At which point I decided to tweet them what the pocket maps said too...

So, Heathrow Terminal 1 has gone missing, TFL can't decide whether it's missing or not, and Terminal 1 seemingly isn't coming back.
